Angie Lagos

Anesthesia and Analgesia
As if he was our own!

Dr. Lagos graduated from the National University of Colombia in 2011 and worked at the University Hospital of Colombia before earning a master’s degree in anesthesiology from São Paulo State University in 2015. She then completed a three-year residency in anesthesia and pain management at Louisiana State University, where she also obtained a Master of Science.

Dr. Lagos worked as an anesthesiologist at the Ontario Veterinary College and became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia in 2020. That same year, she moved to Calgary and joined VCA Canada at the Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency Centre (C.A.R.E.), where she fully established and then led the anesthesia service.

Her clinical interests include designing safe anesthesia protocols, regional anesthesia techniques (locoregional anesthesia), hemodynamic support, mechanical ventilation, and the management of difficult airways. She is also passionate about teaching and has spent the past five years training technical teams and interns in anesthesia and pain management.

On a more personal note, Dr. Lagos is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys skiing, hiking, kayaking, and paddleboarding. She speaks Spanish, English, and Portuguese, and is currently learning French to ease her transition.
