Dr Dunbar is a graduate of The Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. She is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) and a member of the American Association of Veterinary Rehabilitation Practitioners.
Dr Dunbar has a strong interest in pain management and in the treatment of osteoarthritis. She is a co-author of the Canadian Osteoarthritis Staging Tool (COAST) which is used to help clinicians and pet owners identify osteoarthritis in dogs.
With her certified team of rehabilitation technicians, Dr Dunbar provides physical therapy to dogs and cats suffering from both acute and chronic conditions as well as those who are recovering from surgery or injury.
Dr Dunbar has advanced knowledge in sports medicine and loves to treat canine athletes including sled dogs and agility dogs. She has a special interest in educating sporting dog owners about injury prevention. As an experienced sled dog veterinarian and a member of the International Sled Dog Veterinary Medical Association, she has worked at races from Alaska to the Yukon, Wyoming and Quebec. She loves travelling and meeting people in remote communities, caring for sled dogs and promoting their welfare.
Dr. Dunbar is an experienced general surgeon, and also enjoys emergency medicine. She recently became a certified Advanced Life Support Rescuer.
When she is not working, Dr Dunbar enjoys travelling with her family and their 3 rescue dog
